Team Wonderland needs a kick in the pants

I am at nearly 5k of terrible draft and not even close to half-way done! 10k would already be the longest thing I've successfully completed by a few thousand words -- more than that looks like a pretty impossible task. Advice, encouragement, or aforementioned kick in the pants, anyone?

I am actually lousy at kicking in the pants, but I can cheer like nobody's business! *\o/* You can do it! You're 5k in, just keep going and don't think about terribleness - that's what beta is for. It's never as terrible as you think, anyway. <3

Thank you for your kind words! I've been totally swamped this week (seriously, haven't touched fandom since I checked in - argh!) but I have a free day tomorrow, so possibly a complete (very) rough draft by next check in!

Aww. I am sure that it is not that bad. I've finally realized that, personally, I need to just get through the first draft and not care if it sucks because I'm better at revision than at finishing things. I will be hanging out on various chats, moaning about my health problems, my upcoming move, and my inability to stop making Avengers crackvids long enough to finish anything else if you want to bounce ideas off of someone.

I'm mostly worried about the revision, TBH! I've never written anything this long, and the revision is usually the part that I agonize over. I should have the rest of the draft banged out (however badly) in a few days, but OMG, I'm afraid it will be so full of continuity errors and plot holes that I won't be able to fix it. I was not counting on my new job being this mentally exhausting.

You can do this! Just think Cougar and top hat and how all of us are in glee waiting for this. And you're halfway there!

Keep writing, and then a beta can help tweak and polish and refine. The important part is getting your ideas written down and looking at hot pics of Oscar Jaenada for inspiration. ^_^
