Why, thank you, and I'm glad to announce it is indeed much better. I'm cautious, but it's back to average strength again, thank goodness!
And on the photoshoot front, various more items have arrived, including a red Natasha wig and little springs for her wrist gauntlets, and gloves for Clay, and some nicely scaled boots that really oughta be propped up on the furniture to show them off (I'm thinking either Clay or Roque?)
Also, storage boxes obtained, which will be helpful for yanking out existing stores and checking off my lists of "required props."
Also *tadaaaah!* I unstrung my doll for Aisha, took out the family Dremel and got grinding on that muscle-doll body for the first time tonight, which is the first time I've tried using a Dremel. No directions left in the box, so I spent part of last night looking up tutes about Dremels, going in circles listening to absurd stuff there.
Started doing it? Not a problem. (I was so absurdly worried about working on doll resin, too!) Worked long enough to run through the battery charge on it, got a lot done. Probably should buy some more bits of the same general types, keep sharp new ones available.
Also, in working per directions suggested by a modder's tutorial, I got good results, definitely improved how it functions, a big whew of relief there. Still more functionality work to be done there, but looks more doable in reasonable batches. I took down some sharp edges on mold lines that really came out looking like scar lines--and such scars would be seriously ouch!
It'll need a lot of overall sanding (high-level grit with foam-backed sandpapers) to make it look consistent, but not a bad idea if some of it still looks like scars.
I'm really pleased at progress for just the first day at it.
I took some cell phone pix for unstringing, but need to take some of the modding marks too.
Also have pix of the locks I got for Clays' wig (possibly others) so I need to figure out the transition to upload from my phone. Whee, another learning experience!

*stares starry eyed*

Wow, you did so much. Yay progress! More importantly, yay shoulder healing! Shoulder injuries are a bear.

*whispering* um, hate to admit it, but a lot of the progress last week was stuff bought while sitting at my computer. Shhh, don't tell!
Also, kate, a lot of what you've been doing makes it possible for the rest of us to have fun doing this, so kudos to you for all of that.
Yes, *cough* well, this week, shoulder is doing much better, and I'm doing things more normally. Except tum was acting crummy yesterday, stayed home today and slept a lot, which made me feel better. Naps FTW, always. I don't do that as much as I would like to, but...
Progress report...
As of tonight's Dremel session sitting outside, I have two doll legs and maybe an arm modded to work better. The Dremel battery life imposes a stop time, which is probably a good thing. Just need to mod the other arm and then sanding must happen.
I'm trying to figure out if polishing powder and Dremel felt wheel would be a finer abrasive than, say, 1500 grit sandpaper, but I think the finest I've got now is maybe 1000 grit. Some of the doll companies sell foam-backed squares of 600 to 1000 grit sandpapers that are fabulous for fine detail work--I'm sure I could find it cheaper elsewhere, not sure, maybe auto detailing supplies??
Everything will need general sanding down through finer grits, which may take foooorever, or just feel like it. I'd really like to have all that done this week, but I may need to be more realistic about things...
I don't want to sand dry inside, the resin gives nasty dust. Trying to figure out how to do a setup at my desk with water in a plastic shoebox and sand that way without making big-time mess. I like to do stuff with my hands while reading AO3 stories, or listening to Pandora, or watching Hulu or YouTube stuffs.
In other news, looking for something else entirely, got dragged into going through 3 boxes of doll wig fiber, reorganized bags of fiber and pulled together tools and started figuring out how I'm going to do that thing too.
I have storage boxes now, so pulling doll stuffs like boots out of drawers and shelves and reorganizing will be a 3rd big task that can be done when it's too boiling hot to do anything outside, but while it's remotely tolerable outside I wanted to be getting that grinding/modding task done.

Flickr has made the slideshow harder for people to see the captions, which is a big part of the point in an album with shots like these.
This link shows it with captions at fairly fast speed.

I think you're absolutely right. Also (and I should have thought of this earlier, musta been tired!) a friend got me a link to Amazon sale on a kit with an entire range of grits for pretty cheap.

FYI, for folks in any sort of similar need.
