i might set fire to RED and inception, but i swear it will get done. i think i'm being overly picky because they're the two i have the firmest sense of plot. also there are like two songs in existence about mothers and sons. urgh.

should have download links for complements sometime this afternoon/evening.

2/5 are done done done just have to make crappy coverart like i always do. 1/5 is short like two songs which i can possibly make up somewhere else. 2/5 are like halfway done but i swear they're fighting me the whole way.

Hey, bb, I've been trying to figure out how to complement your fanmixes for a while now since you seem to have such solid ideas. My writing brain is defunct right now, but I'd be more than happy to create some cover art for a few of your fanmixes, if you want. (I watched SG-1 forever ago, but I'm not familiar enough with it to find graphics in time for a cover, and I think I'd need help with cyberpunk, if you're willing.)

i have cover art good to go for stargate. i've got an idea for the cyberpunk.

if you could do one for jolene, red or inception that would be fantastic. i do a 600 x 600 square. i've got several examples in the fanmix tag at my personal journal of my usual level of talent.

i'll be writing out the story snippet bits for this over the next week or so as i hammer the last two mixes into shape. possibly one of those would spark your brain?

Sweet. I've done 500x500 squares for podfic covers, so 600x600 won't be a problem.

I'm confident I can swing Inception, since The Losers cast looks absolutely and utterly amazing in suits. I have never seen Red, but I think I can come up with something. The premise of your plot for that fanmix is that Victoria is Jensen's mum, right? If so, I know I can find tons of pics for Helen Mirren.

I'm pretty sure I can come up with something for Jolene, too, but I've had trouble finding pics of Tanee McCall-Short. I'm going to play around with it a bit and see, though. ^_^

ETA: Okay, since the mood has apparently struck, I've been playing around with a possible fanmix cover for Jolene, but I need to know if the fanmix is pre-movie canon or during. Er, so pretty much, should I include Aisha at all or leave her out? Thanks!

victoria is jensen's mum. it's her last mission before she retires and she pulled strings to do it with her son. part of the mix is about their relationship as jensen grows up. ("harper valley pta" and "in the garage" are both on it.)

the jolene mix sort of follows her journey from growing up in a small town to joining the army to becoming a loser to meeting linwood to what happens in the movie and after. so aisha or no aisha it's up to you.

also suits all the time on all of these suave GQMFs. umpf. if you don't get the coverart to work out i am totally willing to accept a picspam for inception. (no inception movie characters actually appearing in mix/fic jsyk.)

do you want me to PM you the list of songs? i'm having trouble with mediafire uploading.

I can view the list on the AO3, so no worries. I kept peeking at it while I was trying to figure out the cover for Jolene's fanmix (ended up scrapping the first two ideas altogether).

Hmmmm. I think I can definitely work something up for Red, then. I love Helen Mirren in photoshoots. She always looks so elegant.

So consider it a definite go on fanmix covers for Jolene and Red from me and a possible Inception/Losers picspam if I can sort through everything and compile it. :)

Yeah, mother and son songs are hard. Mothers and daughters, fathers and sons, fathers and daughters . . . plenty of all of those, but mothers and sons? Tried to think of some that could fit and came up pretty dry.

i am also looking for female covers of father/son songs. for example if you have a woman singing john lennon's beautiful boy i would really really appreciate that.

And after searching, I found her cover on YouTube.

Have you already got "Whip-Smart" by Liz Phair?

You could possibly, depending on what kind of backstory you have for the circumstances of Jensen's birth, use "Black Boys on Mopeds"?

"No Mother" by Old 97s might work but it's kind of more about being dead or dying than the mother-son relationship itself. I feel like Old 97s should have others that might work but can't think of them off the top of my head.

"Children of the Revolution" maybe? Not really about mothers but somehow feels like it could work for Jensen (yes, I'm searching my music library for words related to family relationships).

There's a song that goes by "Mother & Wife" or "Mother's Choice" that's about, if your mother and your wife were both drowning, which one would you save, and you should save your mother because wives are replaceable but mother's aren't. Spring Breakup do a cover of it. Not sure that's useful.
