*sympathy!* i mean, I don't know this draft (yet!) but often my experience with that sort of scattered scenes in my own work is that when I finally come to stitch it all together, I a) don't need anywhere near as many words as I thought I would to put it together, and b) the right pieces turn up as needed, out of the damn ether. If only they did it on command...
