Quick note!: This post will be open for discussion and idea bouncing all through sign ups :)

This is the brainstorming post for folks to get all those great ideas out in the open before official signups. We'll form teams later; for now, let's hear about those awesome ideas for Losers bang-size works or complements--or for prompts you'd love to foist on somebody else!

A few items before we get started:

1. Please take a look at the rules, particularly the size requirements for bang-sized fanworks. If you have any questions, please comment over there or Contact A Mod.

2. Items to address in your top-level comment:
--Type and size of fanwork you're creating (if you know).
--Subject matter, genre, general idea, other details about your fanwork (if you know).
--Type(s) of and size(s) of other fanworks you're looking for (if you have a preference).
--Types of team members (besides bang and complement creators) you might like on your team (see #3 below).
--Type of team interaction you're looking for and what level of involvement you'd like (see #4 below).
--Anything else you feel like including!

3. The bang is open to fanwork creators of any stripe and ability, and to works of any size. If you don't feel you can create a bang-sized work, you can create a complement-sized work. If you don't think you can create a complement-sized work, you can create something of any size during the Scramble. It is also open to people who don't have the time to create anything, but who want to be involved in the process and help all these great fanworks come to fruition! If you want to help a team, try one of these vital roles:

--Cheerleader - someone to keep the team's spirits up through the long slogging middle
--Whipcracker - someone to insist on daily/weekly/semi-monthly word counts/sketches/macaroni sculptures.
--Alpha - sometimes known as "first audience" - a person who gets the first look at a fanwork and enthusiastically asks for more (and sometimes provides gentle guidance - but not editing, that's next up).
--Beta - that editor who is a second (or third or seventeenth) set of eyes - eagle eyes, to catch any coloring outside the lines or stray unglued macaroni or typos and offer constructive criticism.
--Omega - ...just kidding. We don't actually know what an Omega would be on a team, but if you want one or want to sign up as one, go for it!
--Time manager/nagger/mother hen/random capslock squee person... any way you can bring organization, time management, nagging, random knowledge, enthusiasm, inspiration, motivation, squee, or just plain silliness to a team, please come and join the fun!

4. Use the comment space to work out how your team will work together. Do you want a hands off team? Take the idea and run with it, check in on the comm weekly and not really talk again until go time? Or do you want more involvement, maybe a weekly or semi-monthly chat session? Maybe you want to create a community for your team. Maybe having a daily email reminder is the way to go. Be specific - the teams need to keep each other on track and enthusiastic about their works and they should work together in a way that makes it fun and exciting for everyone - but not stressful. Basically, teams are one of the best ways to keep each other going so we have lots of awesome fanworks on the bang go-live date.

5. Please use the subject lines. Put as much or as little information you have about your team, complement offering, bang-sized work, or type of cheerleading/whipcracking/alpha/beta/etc in the subject line, and then include details and questions and brainstorming in the body of the comment itself. Examples:
--Comics Bang: Artist looking for an author, dark and gory. Would like fanmix or graphics complements and a whipcracker that will keep on the team at least twice a week.
--Knitting Complements: 1-2 items for up to two bang-sized fanworks. Cheerleader that can read knitting patterns would be welcome.
--Alpha for bang or complement vids: willing to cheer on vids in all stages of completion.
--Fic Bang: Crack AU where The Losers are all snowmen, looking for wacky complements and a Beta that has detailed knowledge of clown school.
--Podfic Complement: Willing to do a podfic complement for a bang; either a section of a fic bang or a related story to some other type of fanwork.
--Professional Prodder: will coordinate team chats, check-in emails, and monitor progress of team.
--Fanmix Bang: set of six albums for all the main characters based on individual arcs, want an art complement (covers) and a cheerleader to soundboard ideas with (broad musical tastes preferred).
--Haiku Complements: Offering sets of haiku complements to up to four art bangs.
--Spreadsheet Designer offering time management for writers: will create spreadsheet indicating words per day to meet the goal for each writing team member.
--Art Bang: several panels featuring Jensen base jumping and Cougar watching through his scope. Any complement(s) or additional bang(s) would be great as well as an Alpha willing to look in at the art every few days and add gentle comments.
--Macaroni sculpture complement: willing to create sculptures to complement any type of bang but unwilling to use rigatoni or fettuccini.
--Beta for any fanworks including aspects of horse riding or ownership, informal, competition, ranching, etc.
--Meta Bang: want to write a bang-sized meta but need help brainstorming in the comments.
--Team Rock and Roll: 2 bangs and 3 complements on a rock band AU; willing to take on more fanworks of either size, Alphas for the writers and Betas for the podficcer and artist, cheerleaders, and an office manager to wrangle the whole team.
--Unknown: Want to create an unusual bang in tandem with one or more complement creators. (Include more details about what you might want to do in the comment itself).
--Unknown: Looking for a team to do pirates vs. ninjas in many formats.
--Plot bunny up for grabs: Losers as a professional baseball team (feel free to drop prompts or plot bunnies for others to pick up, but please make it obvious in the subject line you do not intend to do the fanwork yourself).

6. This year, we’re staging our sign ups slightly differently: we’re asking for bang sign ups first (May 11-18, 2013), and then opening the floor to complement creators and others to form teams (May 18-25, 2013). This is so we can be sure that everyone has a chance to look at all the possible teams at once to decide where they can best put their enthusiasm. We don't want anyone to miss out being on a great team because they forgot to look at sign-ups after the first day and someone put up a magnificent macaroni sculpture bang on day four.

Team Podfic II: podfic bang looking for other podfics of any size; also graphics complements

I am not certain which fic I'm going to do yet, but I think it's likely to be either storm_petrel's By daybreak they'll be gone and/or pistolera's We Know How the It Works (the world is no longer mysterious.

I'm fine with podfic being the team theme, or we can do something more specific (the first fic is werewolves, that'd make a great collection of Losers podfic). I'd prefer a fairly hands-off team; I don't think we need more than weekly check-ins, and while I'd be happy to trade of betas with other podficcers, I'm pretty busy and don't have a super lot of time to do much else. If the rest of the team wants Alphas, cheerleaders, whipcrackers, or whatnot, though, I wouldn't complain. :)

I'd love covers as complements, too - my ability at that is pretty limited and I love art and graphics of all sorts. :|

Poetry/Haiku and cheerleading/nagging Complements for up to five Big Bangs

I'd be delighted to offer poetry complements (minimum ten lines of poetry/4 verses of haiku) to up to five bangs. Given that they're word complements, they're probably best suited to non-word bangs like vids or art. That said, I'm totally willing to complement someone's written work if they're keen.

I'm also willing to offer cheerleading and/or "I want you to email me X thumbnail sketches or Y number of words by Sunday..." momentum types of support, either to my poetry-complement teams, or if I ended up with three hands-off teams, say, I'd be delighted to branch out to non-poetry teams to provide support and cheering.

Comics-centric team

SO MANY IDEAS OH GOD.

But here's one to start with: I've been meaning to experiment more with comics vidding, and--being the unimaginative literalist that I am--I cannot resist doing a comics vid about Aisha to Khaled's version of Aicha. (Damn you, earwormy song!) I'd either do a second comics vid and make this a bang or do it as a complement by itself. It would be fun to have a team that's just doing comics-centric pieces (or Aisha-centric--that works too). I'd love to get someone on the team who wants to beta vids too. I like to wail at people in chat and have them critique in realtime.

Knitting Bang: Team Sheep Overlords

I'm planning a set of knitted objects (which will end up being donated to a charity here in San Fran. so there are some guidelines I will be adhering to, namely they have to keep someone warm and be teen/adult sized.) I have two-three of the objects already in mind and am happy to brainstorm the fourth.

I'm looking for complements of whatever! I can post pictures in progress to anyone making complements as soon as they're available, and/or point you towards the patterns I'm using if relevant.

1. Lacy cowl for Jolene (orange and grey, cool weather but not frigidly cold, so think Autumn)
2. Half-finger gloves for Cougar (black and sniper-appropriate)
3. Half-mitts for Jensen's niece (brightly obnoxious pre-teen colors like pink and purple and so on).
4. ??? (Maybe hat and scarf set for Clay, except the patterns that seem suitable wouldn't make the item "medium complexity." Except it's two items so maybe that'd be fine?

If you want to do a complement and you have an idea of what I could knit - no sweaters or socks because that takes forever - then fire away!

Last year I was going to do a Dark Angel/Loser crossover. I had found pictures of the movie guys as young as I could for it even. But alas the muse gave me a couple of paragraphs and went mute. This time though I think I've got a different approach that will keep the muse in line and speaking.

The story kinda follows them as they figure out what to do and where to go once what they called home is gone. I don't think it will fall squarely in comic or movie verse. I would love as much cheerleading and brainstorming partners as possible. I'd probably need a bit of help with small unit tactics and strategy. Especially when it comes to military training and weapons. I can only surmise so much from personal experience and what I've learned otherwise.

I don't think I have a whole Bang in me this year, but I'm happy to throw some ra-ra and complementary skills (fibre arts--esp. knitting but I can also crochet and weave and I'm soon to start getting into dyeing; vidding; fanmixes; maybe some short fic; potentially other artsy-crafty things) for, say, two to four teams?

The other half of my plot from last year - fic bang

As usual when I write, last year's bang got away from me and ends on a weird, half-finished note. I plan to write the other half this year. I'd love to have some cheerleaders (read people who are in chat a lot whom I can whine at about my process). As for complements, I don't know. Graphics? Art? The second half of the plot has less to do with archeologists and more to do with evil government medical experiments.

Hm. I am the same, I only got 1/4 of my bang done (and waaaaaaaaaay after the deadline) so this is a super-smart idea. Sadly I don't think I can commit to a written bang, there's just no way to judge whether the inspiration will be there (or the time and energy, my job is such a timesuck). Which also means I'm crap for cheerleading, though I will put a damn RAH-RAH here because I loved that story and would love to read the rest of it.

I am good with formal timekeeping (spreadsheets and email reminders) so I could maybe wrangle you and your cheerleader(s) and complement makers?

Research monkey, decoupage/fic compliments

I really want to do some decoupage with the comics and I don't think I'd be able to manage a bang out of it, so I'm looking to compliment. (Although if someone has an idea for a decoupage bang and wants to share I'm willing to change my mind.)

You know, I think lots of people take a year+ to finish bangs; sometimes when you go long, the story goes REEEEEEEEEEEEALLY long, you know? And then you're just ready to finish when the next year rolls around. It's a good thing. I'm not technically a mod of the bang, so I can't actually say for sure, but my guess is that there's no reason you couldn't post it this year. Is it finished now, or are you still working on it?

Team Avenge the Losers: fic bang, needs cheerleaders, Marvel comics help, complements of all kinds

What the hell, I might as well throw myself in completely over my head. I have this big, huge crossover/fusion/something idea that's been brewing in my head for a while, where Fury is old friends with General Coleman, and goes to him for help making the Avengers a working team after the events of the Avengers movie. Cue the Losers being brought in as superhero babysitters, basically, followed by shenanigans and team bonding and possibly Spiderman cameos, depending on how ambitious I get. This is all really a setup for the events of the Losers movie, leading into the comics, only with the Avengers there to fix things. ;)

There will be dubious science and intrigue and fix-its and quite a lot of bending canon to my own ends.

I need people to nag me about writing, and I'd love to have people who know more about Marvel comics canon to bounce ideas off. I'd be sticking mostly with Marvel Cinematic Universe, but using comics canon to flesh stuff out. Last year I posted check-ins on my journal, which worked pretty well, but this time I'll probably share the Google doc instead of posting chunks of raw text.

Complements of all kinds are eagerly welcomed! The more the merrier, and all that. Though I'll just throw out that Avengers/Losers comics manips would be above and beyond awesome. ;)

Okay, here are some things I'd be up for, comment if your ideas dovetail and we'll see what's the most viable:

- Fanmix complement for fic or other Bang: I have great ideas for a Roque/Clay movieverse mix, but I can adapt to comicverse or Clay/Aisha or Jensen/Cougar or gen or whatever as long as it involves angst and fighting, hit me up.
- Drabble complement for Fanmix Bang: I would love to write a series of drabbles for your fanmixes - if you're splitting the 80, perhaps some others could join me and each of us could take one of your mixes and do a drabble per song?
- Colouring bang/complement: doing a comic or fanart Bang but not sure you'll have time for more than black and white? I'm best at stylised colouring, sort of like the movie credits, but I can have a go at some shading as well if that's your type of art :)

Zine complement?

I think it would be awesome to zine-i-fy somebody's fic/art/reproducible-on-the-printed-page bang. I'd be interested in doing layout/getting it printed/etc. if anyone's up for that. It would be a fun commemorative thing like tea last year. (People would send me their addresses if they want a copy, and I'd do the mailing.) Or we could do this with some of the works from last year as a complement for new stuff this year (depending on who's interested/will give permission). I just think it would be really cool to do an oldschool zine project.

So I'm going to try to do this, why not :D

Basically, this would be an AU where Cougar is badly injured before the Losers are formed and has to leave the military. So instead of being the team sniper, he ends up owning a restaurant. Then, he meets Jensen, meets the rest of the team, AND stuff happens xD It'll be mostly a WHAT IF story following the main events of movie canon, but taking into account that Cougar is not on the team. There will back-story and family and implied fix-its and food porn!

I need a beta to help me go through things, and other people for moral support and to remind me I have to write this. I'd also love if someone(s) from the US could help me with locations/climate/geographical stuff so I don't end up writing everything upside down :)

Any kind of complements will be welcomed and cherished! :D

ALSO, to whoever wants/needs one, I offer my help as a Spanish beta! Anything Spanish-related you need, including translating stuff (within certain length limits, because I'm a human being with a life and stuff), I'll be happy to do it! :)

Things other people should do

If you're looking for inspiration, here's a random assortment of things I stole from other people's Ante Up letters or have had sitting in a file of plotbunnies for a while but do not have time for this year:

Western AU - All the cliched, tropey fun of Westerns! Stampedes, snakebite, showdowns in the main street, and Cougar shooting a noose in the nick of time. You know you want to! If I were more of an artist, I would do this as a fan art vid to an iconic Western tv show theme or famous piece of score.

Yet another comics fixit - You know that plot where one of the characters wakes up to find they've just come out of suspended animation after a number of years and the doctors want to question them about the events leading up to the death of their whole team, long in the past? Stargate SG1 has done this, but I'm pretty sure it shows up in every sci-fi and spy-fi canon ever. You know how it always turns out to be hypno rays or hallucinogenic gas or something, no time has actually passed, and everybody's being held in a different room of the bad guy's James Bondian lair, each being told the same bullshit story? Yeah, that plot. It has Max written all over it, doesn't it? Go to.

Zombie AU - Can there ever be enough? Especially of the "I'm not evil, don't shoot!" variety where somebody runs around trying to eat the other zombies, find a cure, and avoid being killed by their own team in the meantime? The revolting humor of funny zombie canons would be right at home with the Losers.

Young Wizards?

I've been wanting to write a fic for months now that's a crossover with the Young Wizards books. Jensen is a wizard who specializes in fixing Overshadowing and helping people who've lost their magic find it again. Cougar is Overshadowed when they first meet. Aisha has given up her magic. Jolene is a wizard with Pooch as a very understanding husband. And eventually they all play a game of how long it takes Clay to figure things out.

I would need a dedicated cheerleader/prodder/alpha reader who was familiar with the Young Wizard books at the very least.

Space Pirates!

I'd like to do a fic - I'm thinking about putting them into a Firefly-type space AU - The Losers as space pirates, yay! Maybe an actual fusion or crossover with Firefly, maybe just a similar type of AU verse. Because Pooch can drive anything and Jake can fix anything!
Also keen to do complement art and podfic cover art - I'll leave comments up above for that but feel free to ask me if I accidentally overlook your project and you're wanting an artist.

I'm looking for any and all complements and/or help - mainly a beta - but as I'm super late to post this I completely understand if my team is empty because everyone else is over booked!

Anywho, I'm planning to finish a 600 word WIP about the Losers as civilians. It's going to be Jensen/Cougar but it's primarily a story about Roque losing his wife (Jensen's sister) and working his ass off to make sure his tiny broken family (his daughter and Jensen) is okay.

Team Happily Ever After

I'd love to finish my fairy tale fic. It's probably based mostly on Cinderella but Cougar is Cinders, Jensen is the Handsome Prince, Max if Cougar's evil stepfather and Clay is Cougs' fairy godfather. Roque is Clay's apprentice fairy godfather in training (think sparkly wings and combat boots). Pooch is Jensen's put upon man servant, who has to deal with the fact that JJ likes to use the royal horses and carriages for off-roading rather than sedate walks through the countryside.

I've already got some awesome beta readers, but I'd love to see anything anyone else could come up with to complement the story! Cover art would be fantastic, videos, whatever, I'm easy :)

Like I said my bang fic is based around the idea of Gypsy Cougar but I went shifter with it. So Cougar and Jensen are wolves from different packs who have just been tossed into an arranged mating in the hopes of combining both packs and while the boys are ok with that some people really aren't too keen on the idea of two major packs becoming one. This will probably get rather big so I'm not going to guess a word count yet.

The basis of the team is divided into two main themes:

Shifter Verse – Which I’m thinking is going to range from anything between werewolves, were-jaguars, were-anything really to shape shifters. So anything within that genre would be great to have on board regardless of if it’s complementary or not.

Gypsy Verse- Because they are hot (we aren’t even going to pretend this prompt was created for any other reason) So anything with someone in the team as a gypsy whether it’s a completely au storyline or just a snippet or if JJ dresses up as a gypsy to go undercover anything at all goes.

I left the ideas for the complements completely open because anything you guys come up with would be great, whether those are fics, art, videos, etc....

I’m thinking we could make a place to discuss ideas and such or you could just come over a watch me whine about not being able to write anything…..come to the darkside, we have pretties!

Comics Bang: Anyone up to writing something for a 10 page comic?

So... I would love to draw a short comic about 10-15 pages or so. (I'm a Aisha/Clay/Roque shipper first and foremost, but Cougar is my little black dress. I'm also totally down with gen and love team-based stuff.) I'm not that interested in drawing something mundane AU (like barista or college, but I could probably swing something like a western or samurai or something)

Anyone interested in doing a script?

If someone inks and colours, more than 15 pages is also not out of the question!

Copied signup: Sneakin' in another big bang! This is the (visual/2D art series of 3 works) story of a mental health crisis meet-up wherein Cougar (who is on a pysch hold and just wants to forget he was ever in the military) meets Jensen, long-time resident who has delusions (or is haunted by ghosts?) of his team who are always with him and never leave (Aisha was their sniper... if they existed). This thing will be be done in gouache or watercolour and ink. I welcome any complements of any sort and will share any progress doodles and thoughts and whatnot required! (Not that I want to limit anyone's thoughts, complete remixes are also cool!)

I was totally about to nudge/shove you about a party comment because oh my GOD, I would LOVE to do words for this. I don't immediately know if it'll be a 2,500 word fic, or poetry, or drabbles, but YES PLEASE. *cough*

Team Last Second Inception

Since the mods said I could sneak in, I am doing so. My friend loves Losers and she loves Inception so I did a sketch for her of Cougar and Jensen as Arthur and Eames, but I'd like to turn it into a full digital piece with all the Losers and maybe someone would be willing to write an Inception-inspired fic, Losers style.

I just think Jensen would be the best damn architect and maybe Max could be some kind of sinister Inceptionist who has been manipulating key people in positions of power to his own ends :x

Well anyway since this is a late sign up I will take any Complement I can get ^_^;

Sorry for the late response, this week's been amazingly hectic. I've spent it thinking of our pretty, competent boys in pretty suits doing mind-bending things, and it is pleasing to my mind... :D I'd love to do some form of words for this: poetry, or character-drabbles! or ficlets of dreams!
