saekhwa: Asian woman with short black hair & arms outspread and text that reads: 'free' (The Losers - Pooch)
[personal profile] saekhwa posting in [community profile] ante_up_losers
Hey, all!

[personal profile] kate posted a text tutorial that explains how to post to the AO3.

Below the cut, I've provided several screencaps, so that we can ensure that your gift fic remains anonymous and isn't revealed before stories go live in about a week.

Step 15 - Post to Collections/Challenges
The graphic below illustrates what you should see under Associations. You can type in 'losers,' and AO3 will provide a list of options.

If you're fulfilling your assignment, you'll want to select Ante Up: The Losers Fic Exchange 2012.

If you're writing an extra gift for another recipient, be sure to select Ante Up: The Losers Fic Scramble 2012 (which is the option in the middle of the graphic below).

Step 16 - Gift this work to
Don't forget to list your recipient's name whether it's for the Fic Exchange itself or the Fic Scramble. By completing this step, it ensures that the fic appears in 'Gifts' in your recipient's Dashboard. It also ensures that when stories go live, an e-mail is sent to them letting them know that they have a gift and can read it at AO3.

What you should see after posting your fic
After you've completed all of the steps provided in [personal profile] kate's tutorial, the graphic below is what you should see.

I wanted to highlight the blue ribbon that should appear at the top of the screen, because as indicated, it lets you know that your work has been posted, and most importantly, it states: "This work is part of an ongoing challenge and will be revealed soon!" (It also provides a handy link to the Ante Up Collection if you need more details.)

If you do not see this text, then your fic is open to the public and you'll need to edit it ASAP and place it in the collection.

If you need to edit your fic at any time
We've said this before, but we want to make clear that you can edit your fic at any time. So if you see a spelling error (as has happened to me many a time), then you can go in and fix it up (and hopefully before anyone sees it).

The steps below are one easy way of finding your gift fic so you can make whatever changes you feel are necessary.

1.) Under your Dashboard, you'll see a link called Assignments (highlighted in the graphic below).

2.) Once you click that link, you'll be taken to a page that lists all of your assignments. I've provided an example of what this might look like below.

The page will provide you with the name of the challenge, the name of your recipient, and the title of your fic, all of which are hyperlinked.

(Side note to share a handy trick: if you click on your recipient's name, it will take you straight to their request and to their Dear Writer letter if they provided it in sign ups.)

3.) Click on the link to your story, and then click the edit button. You can edit your story to your heart's content or replace your fic if your beta kindly pointed out some larger errors.
